“By Svadhyana the sadhaka understands the nature of his soul and gains communication with divine” BKS IYENGAR
These are challenging and testing times (times of lockdown).
We can’t complain any more of the lack of time, instead, like never before have abundant time to spend with ourselves and family. We also have time to engage in self- study.
We can practice awareness, observe and pay attention to the dynamics of our thoughts, feelings and the language of our bodies. We can rediscover our sensitivity towards ourselves and people around us, Feeling the vibrations of the energies around us, rather than relying just on verbal language. Verbal communication is essential and not to be denied but at the same time so incomplete.
Perhaps we become overwhelmed with unexpected emotions which suddenly surface from hidden places in our psyche. Some hidden grudges which we thought we let go of although they are still here.
How trapped our thoughts can often become by these hidden feelings of anger, jealousy, sadness, greed or resentment which are destructive and poisonous for the mind and body. Now they might become so vivid because our perpetual busyness ceases to exist.
Now at last we have time to get to know all our layers of being, all our dimensions, structures, connections and interdependencies.
We can just be with ourselves and others, we have time to refocus on our own needs and needs of people around us. What are these needs to make us happier and more alive?….perhaps more kindness, compassion, understanding, feelings of safety, respect, patience, friendship, love, and more connection with nature.
We can start feeling more, start listening to the sound of our breath, we can reflect and meditate more. Have faith in the beautiful and peaceful future ahead of us, future where our consciousness evolves and makes a leap.
